Surface flashover in 50 years: Theoretical models and competing mechanisms

چکیده

Surface flashover is a devastating electronic avalanche along the gas–solid interface when high electric field applied, which potential issue that threatens safe operations of advanced power electronic, electrical, and spacecraft applications. However, underlying physical mechanisms for surface development are still under investigation owing to complex charge transport processes through gas phase, solid interface. In this study, history theory in last 50 years introduced, several key questions reviewed from perspective competing transport: role each phase flashover, origin charging, effects traps on flashover. Then, some suggestions involve their correlations put forward, predictable ‘charge competitive model’ proposed by clarifying multiple phases. This study summarises hot topics based classic recent progress offers promising routes developing more precise improving performances.
